Foundation Graduate Scholar Publishes Memoir
After 20 years of work, Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Graduate Scholar AJ Tierney recently published her memoir piece online. “Stuck Like This Forever” is now featured on The Dead Mule School of Southern Literature’s website.
The memoir piece describes the hardships of growing up in poverty, AJ’s first experience with her Bell’s palsy, and the struggle of sacrifice in the name of wanting more.
AJ performed a reading of the piece at the 8th annual Scissortail Creative Writing Festival in Ada, Oklahoma in April 2013.
AJ earned her MFA in Writing from Sarah Lawrence College. She currently teaches at Oral Roberts University and Bacone College in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Her work has appeared in Narrative Magazine and Foliate Oak Literary Magazine.
